Chanticleer Pottery/Chomyk Estate Auction, September 28, 2011

On September 28, 2011, the Online-Only Auction of famed Chanticleer Pottery and the estate of its founders, Michael & Ethel Chomyk, came to a wild and frenzied end.  Bidding on art and antiques was fast and furious in the final minutes of the auction, with bidders from 11 states and Canada proving successful.  Later in the day the real estate bidding ended, and that too had a new owner.

Several paintings set new records for the artists (Michael Chomyk and Milton Frenzel), while the pair of original statues from the St. Louis Mutual Life Insurance Building (ca. 1880) were sold to the St. Louis Building Arts Foundation and are now displayed in there museum as part of their permanent collection.  Buyers where elated to have had the opportunity to purchase such unique and important items, several expressing their satisfaction as well as their sadness that the auction was over.

But it isn’t!  There IS more!

After the auction seller Sue Clark produced a number of paintings, mural proposals, antiques, and collectibles that she had no room for in her new house (it was quite a downsize from the Chanticleer estate).  We have brought these items to St. Louis and will offer them at online auction co-inciding with the Misselhorn Castle Auction, April 11-May 2.

Stay tuned for more information on the next, and most likely the last, offering of art and antiques from Chanticleer Pottery/Chomyk Estate!
